UP govt eyes Indian embassies in US, UK to promote MSME products

Lucknow, Aug 2 (KNN) To promote the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) products of Uttar Pradesh, the state government has reached out to Indian embassies in the US and European countries.

The UP government aims to double its merchandise shipments to Rs 3 trillion in the next 4-5 years through such initiatives and strategies on national as well international level.

Products will be displayed under the state’s flagship One District One Product (ODOP) scheme which will also include traditional handicrafts and indigenous products, as per Business Standard.

Some of the Indian embassies that are identified by the state government are in the US, UK, Germany, Australia, Israel, Singapore, etc.

To market the state’s merchandise basket the UP MSME department had already tied up with leading e-commerce platforms viz. Flipkart and Amazon.

The state’s merchandise exports had jumped 30 per cent from Rs 1.07 trillion in 2020-21 to more than Rs 1.40 trillion in 2021-22, of which the ODOP basket contributed 72 per cent.  (KNN Bureau)
