UP govt plans to upgrade ITIs at the cost of Rs 4,000 crore

Lucknow, July 12 (KNN) In a bid to improve the efficiency of the state Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), the Uttar Pradesh government has decided to upgrade the ITIs at a cost of Rs 4,000 crore. 

The state government aims to enhance the learning happening in these institutes, which in turn would help improve the placement outcomes.

Addressing the media in Lok Bhawan on the 100-day plan of Yogi 2.0, vocational education and skill development minister Kapil Dev Agrawal said, "We are in the process of signing an agreement with a private firm for the technical upgrade of ITIs." In the first phase, 50 ITIs have been selected.

The syllabus has also been revised to make it more relevant for youth to fit into the industry.

The state government has till now successfully established 10 new ITIs with the help of the private sector. 15 more government ITIs are to be inaugurated soon.

The Uttar Pradesh government will also build skill development centres in secondary education schools to provide employment skills to students along with imparting education. For this, two colleges in every district and as many as 150 colleges across the state have been selected. 

Speaking at the occasion, Agrawal also highlighted that 10,000 youths have been linked with apprenticeships in 100 days to ensure career opportunities and practical training for them. Almost 50,000 youths have been given employment against a target of 25,000.

The department has, in the academic year 2022-23, identified 29 areas under which training will be provided to 2 lakh youths. This includes training for 10,000 students in aviation, and 33,021 in health.  (KNN Bureau)
