UP Govt to help industries in Gorakhpur

In this context, GIDA has called for proposals from interested firms, agencies, individuals and societies.
GIDA was established by the Uttar Pradesh Government on November 30, 1989. It has been set up under the UP Industrial Area Development Act, 1976 with the objective of establishing on integrated model township which will have industrial facilities, for setting up of various large/medium and small scale industries, residential facilities, commercial areas, spaces for institutions of national importance as well as office complexes.
The city is proposed to be developed with the state of art technology in engineering as well as the most modern architecture. Emphasis is also being laid on developing it as a green city to ensure a pollution free environment.
Gida is situated on both side of national highway and on upcoming east west corridor connecting to UP and BIHAR, Nepal and other areas. Gorakhpur has the north eastern railway headquarters. This provides the option of transporting goods by rail, road and air transport. There are various renowned institutions providing skilled manpower to established and growing enterprises.
As far as industrial potential is concerned, according to reports, agro-based raw material is available in abundance; therefore there is bright prospect for such units.
The finding of a techno economic feasibility and viability potential survey has pointed to potential thrust areas as food processing, frozen vegetables, frozen fruits, herbal products, textile industries, hi fashion industries, leather products, mineral water, pet bottles, electronic, jute industries, fine yarn and steel industries.
