Lucknow, Apr 20 (KNN) The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to provide jobs to all those migrants who have come from outside under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGA).

''Amid lockdown, the migration of youth to villages has led to a situation of economic distress, which can be solved by providing jobs for the youth under MGNREGS,'' media reports quoted Principal Secretary (Rural Development), Manoj Singh as saying.

''Youth seeking jobs under MGNREGS will be immediately given job cards in their respective villages,'' he added.

He further said that as per the guidelines of the centre, works under MGNREGS would be conducted outside the containment area.

The MGNREGA Act aims at enhancing the livelihood security of people in rural areas by guaranteeing hundred days of wage-employment in a financial year to a rural household whose adult members volunteer to do unskilled manual work.
