Noida, Mar 11 (KNN) The Uttar Pradesh government’s announcement asking small, medium and major enterprises to submit applications online for setting up new industrial units in the state from May 1 has been welcomed by the units, although they are doubtful about the sustainability of the process.

“Submitting applications online will be really good for the industry but we don’t know how the government will sustain it,” said Managing Director of Chakradhar Chemicals, Neeraj Kedia from Meerut.

Last week the Uttar Pradesh Government made an announcement to make it mandatory to submit applications online for setting up industrial units in the state including small, medium and major categories from May 1.

“It has been made mandatory that May 1 onwards, all applications for setting up industrial enterprises in the state would have to be submitted online for the small, medium and large entrepreneurs,” Uttar Pradesh Infrastructure and Industrial Development Commissioner, Alok Ranjan had told KNN.

“The move is to provide genuine single window to the industrialists to submit their applications rather than manually going to each department to submit the forms. This will help them a lot and will make the process simpler,” Ranjan said.

“If this happens, it is good. It depends on the implementation of the programme. As UP lacks in accountability, it is today difficult to say whether it will sustain or fail,” Kedia said.
Meanwhile, Noida Entrepreneurs Association (NEA) was optimistic about the announcement and said, “The industry is happy with the announcement as it will make the authorities more accountable,” said NEA President Vipin Malhan.

“Any form which we fill online comes on record and will be in the system. So, if we want we can even file RTI to get the details in case the file is stuck. Now the authorities can be accountable,” he added.

“This will even reduce corruption as there will be no human interference,” he said.

According to the new process, industrialists will have to submit only one application which will be sent to various concerned departments for clearance.

"All government departments under the ambit of Nivesh Mitra will have to accept applications submitted online exclusively," he said.

The move would make the process more transparent,” he added.  (KNN/SD)
