UP Jal Nigam also gets into packaged water for sale in Noida, Ghaziabad

Ghaziabad, Mar 5 (KNN)  UP Jal Nigam is planning to establish a water bottling plant which would treat and package water in different size bottles for sale in Noida and Ghaziabad.
 
Treatment of water will be done according to BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) specifications.
 
In this context, UP Jal Nigam seeks bids from professionals with experience in the field to implement the project in public-private-partnership mode.
 
In 2003, 50 Cusec Gangajal water supply scheme was commissioned to supply Ganga water for drinking purpose to Noida and Ghaziabad.  A 120 mld water treatment plant is situated at Pratap Vihar, Ghaziabad under the above scheme.
 
In addition, a 4mld recycling plant has been established to recycle the waste water from clari-flocculators and filters in the same campus.
 
The selected private partners would be required to treat this water as per BIS specifications,
packaging in different sizes of bottles and sale to the consumers in Noida and Ghaziabad in P.P.P. frame work.
 
The UP government constituted the corporation - Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam in 1975, its area of operation extending to the whole of Uttar Pradesh excluding cantonment areas under an Act called as Uttar Pradesh Water Supply and Sewerage Act, 1975.
 
The basic objective of creating this corporation is development and regulation of water supply and sewerage services and for matters connected therewith.  (KNN/ES)
