New Delhi, Jun 11 (KNN)  The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to renovate sufi sites to promote tourism in the state, considering that sufi is a major tourist attraction.

“There is need to promote sufi sites and protect the rich heritage in the state. Work is in progress to promote tourism on positive note which will be successful,” said UP Chief Minister, Akhilesh Yadav while launching a book called ‘A leaf turns Yellow- The Sufis of Avadh’ written by noted film maker Muzaffar Ali.

Yadav further said that India was a country of different religions, although the foundation of every religion remained the same.  He referred to many sufi sites which are currently unknown and the need to identify them.

A leaf turns Yellow deals with the serious subject of Sufism which according to Yadav introduces people to the great persons born in Avadh who proclaimed the message of peace and harmony.

Sufism has evolved in India over a period of 1,000 years.  (KNN)
