Lucknow, Apr 9 (KNN) The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to take up modernisation and upgradation of power distribution system in four cities - Ghaziabad, Kanpur, Meerut and Varanasi to start with, in the public private partnership mode.

The UP Power Corporation Limited has already begun work in this direction and invited bids of appointment of technical consultants to the project.

“UPPCL has resolved to undertake the renovation, upgradation, modernisation, strengthening, operation and maintenance of the distribution system and sub transmission system of select urban areas…” said Managing Director, UP Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) in a bid notification today.

While the state government will set up infrastructure, power distribution and revenue realization will be handled by private companies under the public-private-partnership (PPP) basis.
