UP Tourism to develop GIS tools for tourists

The corporation is scouting for vendors who will be assigned the task of developing such applications.
In 2012, the state saw 17,03,75,771 tourists of which 16,83,81,276 were domestic tourists and 19,94,495 were international tourists, official data said.
Uttar Pradesh is known for its heritage, culture and scenic beauty. It is home to some of the greatest monuments like the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, Fatehpur Sikri, the ghats of Varanasi, forts at Allahabad, etc.
It is also considered the seat of Buddhism with places such as Piprahwa, Kaushambi and Shravasti bearing testimony to the fact.
It is to see such destinations that both domestic and international tourists flock to the state year after year.
In 1974 the Uttar Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation was established to look after the commercial activities which are a part of development of tourism.
Under the Tourism Development Policy, several tourist circuits are being developed to include Buddhist Circuit; Bundelkhand Circuit; Braj (Agra-Mathura) Circuit; Awadh Circuit; Vindhya- Varanasi Circuit; Water Cruise; Wild Life -Eco Adventure Circuit. (KNN/ES)
