Lucknow, June 12 (KNN) The draft of the new industrial policy of Uttar Pradesh, which promises ease of doing business, tax relief and continuous power supply, has been approved by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath after some amendments.

An official spokesperson has said that the draft policy will be uploaded on the website of the department for suggestions and objections of people before finalising it and presenting it before the state cabinet

Apart from promoting ease of doing business environment in the state, the policy also aims to promote industries in the underdeveloped Purvanchal and Bundelkhand regions.

UP Industries Minister Satish Mahana has said that the government will unveil the policy in the "next two-four weeks.

Some of the key focus areas in the policy includes - time-bound approvals with special focus on information technology start-ups, electronics, agriculture, food processing, dairy, handloom, film development and tourism sectors, among others.

Promoting food parks and restoring the industry in Kanpur, once called Manchester of the East, will also be part of the new industrial policy.

The highlight of the policy will be uninterrupted power supply to industrial units.  There will also be tax benefits for investors along with a single-window system will be set up to provide facilities to potential investors under one roof.

The state industries minister said that the state government is also studying the industrial policies of other states to incorporate good things.

Referring to the state's industries, many of which are close to the Ganges, Mahana said, "Polluting units will be shifted to other places. We have given them offer to shift for which an industrial cluster will be set up."

Mahana said consumer electronics maker Samsung will invest Rs. 4,915 crore to double its manufacturing capacity for smartphones and refrigerators at its Noida plant.

The Korean electronics firm has said that the investment would position the Noida plant as a major production hub and create 5,000 jobs. (KNN Bureau)
