Urgent need of self-sustaining culture of innovation & cluster based approach for development of MSMEs: Expert

Nagpur, Apr 15 (KNN) There is an urgent need of self-sustaining the culture of innovation and cluster based approach for development of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), said Director of MSME-DI.

He was speaking at a review meeting of all stakeholders of MSME INNO project organized by MSME-DI Nagpur to discuss various issues and initiatives being taken up under MSME INNO project in Nagpur Cluster jointly being implemented by Ministry of MSME and GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).

Welcoming all the stakeholders, Director of MSME-DI, Nagpur, P M Parlewar said, MSME plays a pivotal role in overall industrial development of India.

He said “With globalization, there is an urgent need of dynamic and self-sustaining culture of innovation and cluster based approach for development of MSMEs.”

The idea of incubation centre is to commercialize innovative ideas and give them market support through capacity building. The objective is to promote incubators under MSME Scheme in Maharashtra state, he added.

Addressing the gathering, he mentioned that around 50 problem statements from SMEs are shared with 3 reputed institutes and faculties and students are working to offer innovative solutions to these industries.

Another good initiative under this project is the Nagpur Incubators forum (NIF) which is one of its kind in the country that has been established under the MSME INNO project wherein the Government, private and academia based incubation centres have come together to form a platform and share their challenges, best practices, said Parlewar.

Project Officer of GIZ, New Delhi, Sangeeta Suresh was present during the meeting to review the various initiatives that are being initiated by MSME office under the project. She explained the initiatives to strengthen the industry and academia research.
