Bhubaneshwar, Aug 28 (KNN) In order to help create jobs and enhance skill development in micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) sector in Odisha, the Utkal Chamber of Commerce and Industry (UCCI) wants its state government to form a task force, reports media.

UCCI President Ramesh Mahapatra, in a letter to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik pointed out that the MSME sector was “languishing” both in the field of start-ups and existing units in the state.

He requested the minister to form a task force under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary to draw out a proper plan both for start-up units and also redressal of problems faced by the existing units.

According to the report, the UCCI president claimed that the state industries department and MSMEs were planning to bring out a new IPR and MSME Policy.

He said most of the clauses of the IPR and MSME Policy declared in 2007 and 2009 had not been implemented in the absence of notification by concerned departments.

The letter said the task force should go through the reasons for non-implementation of the earlier policy and talk to different departments, PSUs and agencies before unveiling a new policy.

The task force should also suggest remedial measures to be incorporated in the new policy to ensure its implementation after ascertaining the reasons for non-implementation of the policy by different departments, it said. (KNN Bureau)
