Lucknow, April 7 (KNN) More than 11,000 khadi and village industry units were established in Uttar Pradesh (UP) in the year 2021-22, shows data from the Pradhan Mantri Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) released by the UP government.

Additional Chief Secretary, MSME , Navneet Sehgal, said, “UP has the largest number of industries in the country under PMEGP but the achievement in 2021-22 was truly remarkable as there has been an increase of over 110%. What adds to the achievement is that the increase came despite factors like the pandemic and elections.”

Compared to UP, the average achievement in other states was 91% as per the data.

Against the target of Rs 2,867 crore, different states could avail and use Rs 2,603 crore. In comparison, UP scored more than 100% on different counts, Sehgal said, adding, “The UP Khadi and Village Industries Board has logged an achievement of Rs 148 crore against a target of Rs 110 crore.

Likewise, the District Industries Centre registered business worth Rs 165 crore against a target of 146 crore.
