Kumaon Region’s First Cattle Feed Manufacturing Unit To Be Set Up In Udham Singh Nagar

Rudrapur, Dec 6 (KNN) Uttarakhand’s Cooperative Department is establishing Kumaon’s first silage (cattle feed) manufacturing factory in Udham Singh Nagar district which will employ approximately 24 persons, reported TOI.

State officials have started the search for land and the proposed factory in US Nagar will supply silage to the entire Kumaon region.

The state government initiated the Chief Minister Ghasyari Kalyan Yojana in November 2021, ensuring easy accessibility to vacuum-sealed bags of 25- 30 kg of silage for mountain communities. Now, the focus is on extending the scheme to the Terai region.

Currently operational in Dehradun and Haridwar, silage plants produce vacuum-sealed bags for cattle farmers.

BS Manral, district assistant registrar, said, “After finalising the land, the scheme will be implemented in the district. The move is a crucial step to address the region’s agricultural needs.”
