Uttarakhand Explores Possibilities Of Sending Construction Workers To Israel
Dehradun, Dec 18 (KNN) The Uttarakhand government is looking at ways to send workers from the state to Israel which is in need of labourers for its construction industry.
The middle-eastern country amidst it’s ongoing conflict with Hamas is also facing construction worker shortage.
Indian states like Haryana and Uttarakhand have shown interest in this.
Haryana has already begun inviting applications for 10,000 construction workers to work in Israel, offering a monthly salary of about Rs 1.34 lakh.
R Meenakshi Sundaram, secretary of the state labour department, said, “The department is examining the possibility of sending construction workers from the state to Israel."
He added, "In comparison to other states, the number of construction workers in Uttarakhand is less, as most of them working here are from outside the state. However, we are exploring the possibilities for those hailing from our state. If it is feasible, we too will try to send them to Israel as it would offer exposure as well as better remuneration.”
Saurabh Bahuguna, state minister of skill development, said, “As of now, the labour department is looking into the matter. The skill development department might soon work on similar lines to benefit the state's workforce.”
