Kolkata, Mar 19 (KNN)  As a part of the ongoing computerisation process, the West Bengal government is changing the procedure of filing application for amendment in the certificate of registration by a dealer registered under the West Bengal Value Added Tax Act, 2003.

“Instead of the existing manual process, he shall have to make his application compulsorily to his assessing authority electronically,” said a notification from West Bengal Directorate of Commercial Taxes.

It said that the new procedure will come into force with immediate effect.

Dealers intending to apply for amendment in his RC will log on to the Directorate’s official website using his user ID and password allotted to him.

The notification said any application filed for amendment of RC manually prior to this date must be disposed of within March 31, 2014. All manual applications, found not disposed as on the dead line will be deemed to have been rejected or non-applied at all. Those dealers are to make fresh applications using online module.

The WBVAT Act is to levy tax on sale of goods in the state on the basis of value added to such goods at each stage of sale of such goods and on purchases of certain goods in specified circumstances and to provide for matters connected with that. (KNN/ST)
