Kolkata, Jul 28 (KNN)  As many as 229 marketing hubs called Karma Tirtha will be set up across West Bengal to help entrepreneurs market their products directly to consumers in rural areas.

The West Bengal Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee announced the decision to set up such hubs which will promote sustainable entrepreneurship and at the same time generate employment, here on Saturday, according to media reports.

Given the abundance of natural resources and the availability of skilled workforce, West Bengal has tremendous scope in rural businesses, the Chief Minister said.

Out of the sanctioned 229 hubs, 44 will be flagged off by the CM on August-1, the media report said.  The state government hopes to set up one hub in every block of the state within the next year.

The state government will be providing the requisite infrastructural support including training and finance, allowing individuals, self-help groups, co-operative enterprises, artisans, weavers etc to avail the benefits of the scheme. (KNN/ES)
