Walmart, Flipkart to assist digitization of MSMEs in Assam under State govt pact

Guwahati, Aug 5 (KNN) Retail and E-commerce giants Walmart and Flipkart will help and support the digitization of local MSMEs in Assam through its partnership with the State government. 

The MoU was signed on Thursday which states that both the companies will work towards creating an ecosystem which will enable the digitization of MSMEs in the state.

They will provide assistance to the small business in the field of digitization which will help them in expansion of their venture. 

Additionally, they can expand their export potential and join the global supply chain of Walmart. 

Signing the agreement, Jayanta Malla Baruah, Minister of Skill, Employment and Entrepreneurship said, “The Walmart Vriddhi program will help MSMEs become competitive not just in the domestic market but also get connected with major export destinations globally.”

He thanked Walmart and Flipkart for the partnership and said, “We look forward to working together to build a robust MSME ecosystem in Assam."

Speaking on behalf of Walmart, Nidhi Munjal, VP, Supplier Development - India, said, "We are pleased to announce our partnership with the Assam government and honoured to support its initiatives to expand and create a strong digital ecosystem for MSMEs. Assam is fast merging as a major investment hub for MSMEs. Through the Walmart Vriddhi program, we want to offer MSMEs an opportunity to develop the necessary skills to grow in domestic and international markets. This collaboration will accelerate our efforts to digitize local MSMEs while helping them achieve the highest potential." 

Explaining Flipkart’s vision senior director Jagjeet Harode said, "Our aim is to assist them with business expansion on online marketplaces. We look forward to working with MSMEs from Assam, helping them build capacity and take advantage of the rapidly growing digital economy in India."  (KNN Bureau)
