WB Govt unveils Durga Puja packages to boost tourism

Kolkata, Sep 30 (KNN) Giving a push to the tourism sector in the state which provides business opportunities to thousands of micro and small enterprises (MSEs), the West Bengal Tourism Development Corporation Limited (WBTDCL) has announced fifteen packages for tourists wanting to experience the Durga Puja in the state.

There are three tours within Kolkata named Udbodhani, covering some of the grandest built pandals (pre-Puja whole-night tours on October 5, 6 and 7), and Sanatani-I and Sanatani-II, covering the Durga Pujas in the erstwhile zamindar households (morning tours on October 8, 9 and 10 for both I and II).

Another set of tours covers the traditional Durga Pujas on the outskirts of Kolkata.

The different tours are Hooghly Safar, Rarbanger Puja-I, Rarbanger Puja-II, Surul Rajbari in Birbhum, Kashim Bazar Rajbari in Murshidabad and Bijaya Package to Bishnupur, covering the period from October 8 to October 13.

The various north Bengal tours are North Bengal Puja Package-I (pujas of Jalpaiguri and Cooch Behar Rajbari), North Bengal Puja Package-II (pujas of Jalpaiguri and Malbazar, and forest safari in Medhla) and North Bengal Puja Package-III (same as the package-II), from October 8 to October 10.

Further, the department has also announced cruise package consisting of Durga Puja on board along with cultural programmes. There are morning and evening trips from October 7 to October 11.

There are also two trips covering the grand spectacles of the immersions of the idols at Babughat.
