WB MSME Dept launched new linen products; trains 180 Tant weavers

Kolkata, Dec 31 (KNN) The West Bengal MSME Department has launched new products made of linen and the department has also started training 180 Tant weavers for making the fabric.

All India Trinamool Congress said, “Tantuja, the leading brand of Bengal, under the State MSME department, has now stepped in to promote linen products. The new products made of linen were inaugurated on Tuesday by the Bengal MSME Minister.”

The MSME department has started training 180 Tant weavers in Fulia on making linen fabric. The MSME department has been supplying the weavers with special machines to weave linen fabric.

Tantuja will promote the products through its 10 outlets. Prices have been fixed keeping in mind the middle income groups.

Tantuja has recently received the prestigious Images Retail Award in Mumbai.

Tantuja’s products, especially sarees, are now available on most popular e-commerce platform.

“Once ailing due to financial crisis, the organisation under West Bengal State Handloom Weavers Cooperative Society made a record operational profit in 2015-16 at Rs 3.5 crore against a turnover of Rs 123.19 crore,” said AITC.
