WB sets up panel to clear industrial projects

Kolkata, Nov 14 (KNN) The West Bengal government has decided to form a five-member committee for faster clearance of industrial projects in the state.

The committee will be headed by a senior government official comprising of a joint secretary and four other officials from the finance, power, industry, land and environment departments.  

Significantly, it will promote the "single window" system.

“We have decided to form a five-member task force of officials from five departments that have a role to play in setting up industries. These officials will be available at the West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation (office),” Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said during the annual business conclave Biz Bridge 2013, organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

It will be operated at the West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation (WBIDC) building.

Banerjee also announced that nearly 2000 acres of land available in different parts of the state will be utilised for setting up of industrial parks. (KNN/ST)
