WBSCL to help self-help group members start catering business+

Kolkata, Feb 26 (KNN) The West Bengal Swarojgar Corporation Limited (WBSCL) is extending help to members of self-help groups start their own business of catering.

In this regard, WBSCL will provide the utensils required to set up the business free of cost. According to officials of the corporation, 50 lakh women will be benefiting from this scheme.

Since the business would be set up by local women, they would naturally be preferred by people of the areas where they hail from. Secondly, since the government is bearing the entire cost of the utensils, the cost of catering would also be much less for the people who would be appointing these caterers for their functions.

“The Bengal Government has been taking a lot of measures to help village women become self-sufficient. One such, being implemented by West Bengal Swarojgar Corporation Limited (WBSCL), is helping members of self-help groups take up the business of catering,” All India Trinamool Congress has said.

In the initial phase, Rs 100 crore would be spent on the project. No amount of money would be directly handed over to the women; rather, the utensils would be given to the women to start business. They would also be monitored by WBSCL to ensure that the businesses are being carried on in the proper manner.
