WBSIDCL to rope in private sector for development of integrated Silk Park

Kolkata, Dec 20 (KNN) Giving a boost to the traditional silk industry in the state, the West Bengal Small Industries Development Corporation Limited (WBSIDCL) wants to rope in the private sector for development of an Integrated Silk Park at Malda.

The proposed location for the park is at Madhughat, 11 kilometres south of Malda town on Siliguri – Kolkata National Highway (NH 34).

“The Department of M&SSE&T, Government of West Bengal proposes to set up an Integrated Silk Park at Malda over an area of about 15 acres in a PPP mode in order to harness the expertise of private sector for integration of design and construction, operation and maintenance and financing of Integrated Silk Park,” WBSIDCL said in a notification.

In this context, WBSIDC Ltd seeks bids from private partners to set up the integrated silk park.

The land on western side of NH-34 in the village Madhughat would have the common facilities of the Park and the land on eastern side of NH-34 in the village Ramchandrapur would have industrial plots / built up space with all infrastructural facilities for setting up of individual production units.

For the implementation of the Project WBSIDC will form a joint venture company (SPV) with the selected private partner.

The Integrated Silk Park will be fully developed by SPV.

“It will also undertake regular upgradation of the technology and skill sets of the targeted segment to meet the changing requirement of the industrial units,” added the notification.

The components that have to be developed are the Common Facility Centre (CFC) for Silk Reeling and other Post Cocoon activities like spinning, Modern Designing Centre; Technology Facilitation Centre; Enterprise Facilitation Centre, etc. (KNN/SD)
