West Bengal govt relaxes Open Space Criteria for control of Building operations in Panchayat areas

Kolkata, Sept 27 (KNN) Government of West Bengal has issued a circular on relaxation of Open Space Criteria for control of Building operations in Panchayat areas as compared to urban areas.

The requirement of minimum front setback for permission of construction is one and one-fifth of a meter which is less than the open space criteria mandated by Department of Urban Development and Municipal Affairs (UDMA) Department, said the official statement.

Department of Panchayats and Rural Department has informed the MSME and Textiles Department about it.

On July 15, 2022 a meeting was chaired by chief secretary issues related to fire approvals for industry wherein the issue of rationalization of open space norms for industry was discussed.

A circular regarding the relaxation has been sent by the Office of the Joint Secretary Government of West Bengal to major Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Associations, industries in West Bengal including, FOSMI, West Bengal Hosiery Parl etc.  (KNN Bureau)
