West Bengal Tax Dept urges MSMEs to create ID at the earliest at GST Common Portal

Kolkata, Dec 9 (KNN) The Goods & Services Tax Network (GSTN) has started migrating the existing VAT payers into the GST system from November 30, 2016 which will continue up till December 15, 2016.

In this context, the West Bengal Directorate of Commercial Taxes, through communications to the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), has been updating about the procedure and steps required to be taken for this.

The Department said the GST Network can be accessed using Provisional ID and Token which has been made available to individual dealers on logging under the link Dealer Status at the website www.wbcomtax.gov.in  (see left side column of the home screen under Other Services).

The Department said that the MSMEs, who do not readily have documents required to be uploaded on GSTN, should at least login into the GSTN for the first time through NEW USER LOGIN and create username and password from GSTN Common Portal at https://www.gst.gov.in/ so that they are able to log into GSTN even at a later date.

It mentioned that ID and Password for the WB VAT website and that for GSTN are different and should be used accordingly for respective website.

The tax department has urged the MSMEs to create user name and password at the earliest at GST Common Portal, if not already done. (KNN Bureau)
