As per reports, the decision to set up the textile park is the outcome of the workshop on ‘Expanding opportunities in the Textiles sector of West Bengal’ organised by the state’s MSME & Textiles department.

“The identification process for the land to set up the proposed Textile Park is underway. Hopefully, we will soon zero in on it,” a bureaucrat told PTI when contacted.

The government has also decided to set up dyeing facilities as well as designing centres at Phulia and Shantipur in Nadia district, he added.

The MSME&T department will also conduct export facilitation for handloom exporters in Nadia and Burdwan districts in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), a statement, released by the state government following the workshop, stated.

The workshop was chaired by Chief Secretary HK Dwivedi and was also attended by principal secretary of the MSME & Textiles department and representatives from the industry and chambers and associations representing textile eco-system. (KNN Bureau)
