West Bengal claims Rs 1,586 cr GST compensation from Centre

Kolkata, Feb 24 (KNN) The central government has to pay Rs 1,586 crore as GST compensation to West Bengal, said Finance Minister Chandrima Bhattacharya on Thursday.

Total Rs 823 crore was given by the Centre in June, 2022 to West Bengal from an outstanding due of GST compensation worth Rs 2,409 crore.

Responding to Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s earlier claim on the state government not submitting audited accounts, she said that it was not true.

According to Bhattacharya, Bengal is yet to receive Rs 1,586 crore as GST compensation from the Centre. 

However the Centre has been making contradictory statements on it.  (KNN Bureau)
