With 1.47 lakh MSME registration in a year, Haryana surpasses Punjab

Chandigarh, Jul 24 (KNN) Despite COVID-19 pandemic, Haryana has surpassed Punjab in terms of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) registration in a year.

According to details shared by the MSME Minister Narayan Rane in Lok Sabha Lok Sabha  on Thursday, as many as 1.40 lakh new MSMEs were registered in Punjab from July 1, 2020, to July 15, 2021. However, Haryana surpassed the number by registering 1.47 lakh during the same period, while 18,704 were registered in HP and 8,261 in UT Chandigarh.

The minister also informed the parliament that a total of 39.92 lakh MSMEs registered across the country on the Udyam Registration Portal during the last one year.

The details further revealed that from September1, 2015 to June 30, 2020, out of the total 1.02 crore MSMEs registered across the country, total 2.33 lakh were in Punjab, 2.16 lakh in Haryana, 16,962 in Himachal Pradesh and 13,053 in UT Chandigarh.

Rane also said that on July 1 last year, after adoption of a new definition of MSMEs, a new registration portal Udyam Registration has been launched by the ministry and so far 36.70 lakh such units have been registered on the portal across the country since.
