With available resources, huge potential in northeastern region for MSMEs: MSME-DI Guwahati

New Delhi, Apr 28 (KNN) Viewing the potential of North eastern region of the country to grow as a major business destination in coming days the Union Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) is focusing on the overall development of the region for optimal utilization of available resources.

The key observation was made by M Sreenivasulu, Director, MSME-DI, Guwahati during a regional-level seminar organized by the Department of Management of the Asian Institute of Management and Technology (AIMT).

Speaking at the seminar on “Empowering Entrepreneurship for the Economic Development of the North-Eastern Region: Challenges and opportunities”, she emphasized on the need for optimal utilization of available resources in the region.

Emphasizing on the sustainable growth and development of region, she made the comments that the new generation should concentrate on the mechanism to fully utilize the available resources innovatively and start with their own businesses.

She also requested the students to come up with new and unique business ideas as the department is all set to lend support financially and morally to the budding and innovative entrepreneurs.

Commenting over the funds, she said fund is not a matter of concern for the business-minded masses of the region.

Describing the role and importance of MSME-DI, Guwahati, she said that the MSME-DI act as a facilitator and works as an effective links between the Central and the state governments in the area of MSME development.

The MSME-DI, Guwahati provides a wide range of services to the small industries sector and include all enterprises, excluding the larger ones which include training for entrepreneurship development, preparation of project and product profiles, technical and managerial consultancy, assistance for exports, provides economic information services, facilities for testing and tool making, she added.

Aim of the department is to unleash the hidden potential of the North-East region by turning challenges into opportunities. (KNN/YV)
