Jammu, Aug 20 (KNN) | The micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Jammu, who did not have access to internet for last fifteen days, want the date extended for filing GST returns. The industrialists have pointed that they have also been facing difficulty in filing ITR or filling the tenders.

To take the request forward with the government, the Bari Brahmana Industries Association (BBIA) held a meeting today.

Lalit Mahajan, President, BBIA said the meeting was held for the members of BBIA to discuss the “difficulties being faced by the industrial units of our state in filing of GST Returns due to suspension of internet service in J&K from last so many days resulting into total disruption of the industrial activities.”

Mobile AND internet services were suspended in Jammu on August 5, in view of security concerns in the region. The restrictions on the telecom services were continued in the wake of abrogation of Article 370 of the Constitution.

Last week on Friday, the government had decided to lift restrictions imposed in Jammu and Kashmir, in a phased and gradual manner.

“It is pertinent to mention here that the Internet Services have been snapped in our State since August 05, 2019 resulting it is not possible for the Unit Holders to transfer the funds for the deposit of GST for the month of July 2019 & filling of GST Returns on or before August 20, 2019,” Mahajan said.

Due to suspension in Internet Services in our State, members are also facing problem in filing their personal Income Tax Returns & Online Tenders of State as well as Government of India, he added.

BBIA has urged the Governor of J&K, Satya Pal Malik and K K Sharma, Advisor to the Governor to kindly take up the matter with the Union Finance Ministry for the extension of last date for deposit and filing of GST Return, Income Tax Returns and Tenders of State/Central Government until the restoration of internet service across the state.
