With women-led MSMEs getting Rs 91,314 cr loan under Mudra Yojna over 8 yrs, West Bengal tops state list

New Delhi, Mar 31 (KNN) A total amount of Rs 91,314 crore has been disbursed to women-led MSMEs in West Bengal under the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY) scheme since its inception in 2015, making it the highest disbursement in state wise category for women-led MSMEs.

The second state in the list of highest disbursement under mudra loan is Tamil Nadu at Rs 89,235 crore, followed by Bihar at Rs 73,71; Karnataka at Rs 72,746 crore and Maharashtra at Rs 67,053 crore, said Minister of State for MSME, Bhanu Pratap Singh Verma in a written reply to the Lok Sabha on Thursday.

In view of women entrepreneurs as account holders under the scheme, Tamil Nadu is on top with 4,03,08,448 number of accounts, followed by West Bengal (3,39,78,944), Bihar at 3,36,52,527,  Karnataka (3,27,09,477) and Uttar Pradesh (3,09,11,957).

He also revealed that there has been a substantial increase in women led MSMEs registered on Udyam Registration Portal, with the figure rising from 4.9 lakh (2020-21) to 8.59 lakh (2021-22) in one year.

The Udyam Registration Portal was a replacement of Udyog Adhaar Memorandum for registration MSMEs which was launched in July 2020.

Citing RBI data the minister said, as on 31.3.2021, out of a total number of 211.65 crore accounts in scheduled commercial banks of the country, 70.64 crore accounts belong to female account holders. (KNN Bureau)
