WWEPC Chair encourages export of Basoli Pashmina shawls

Kathua, Nov 14 (KNN) Basoli Pashmina shawls and Basoli paintings have a lot of potential to be promoted for exports, said Romesh Khajuria, Chairman, Wool & Woollens Export Promotion Council (WWEPC), Ministry of Textiles.

He was addressing the audience at the district-level export awareness workshop in Kathua.

It was a one-day district-level export awareness workshop organized by Jammu and Kashmir Trade Promotion Organization (JKTPO) for the promotion of export of products from Kathua district.

Delivering a presentation on WWEPC, Sanjay Chawla, Additional Executive Director and Head of Regional Office, Ludhiana WWEPC explained the activities of the council in detail for the promotion of exports.

“Crafts like Samba print, Basoli Pashmina shawls, Basholi paintings, Namdas, blankets, Chickry wood craft, Coochiet, etc. discouraged by the old governments and no infrastructure like CFC (common facility centre) or craft development centres created at district levels in Jammu region,” said Khajuria.

He appreciated the vision of Khalid Jahangir, MD JKTPO and efforts of JKTPO team for successfully conducting district level export level workshops in one after the other districts.  (KNN Bureau)
