Young turks to shape Bihar rural model

Patna, Jun 18 (KNN)  Bihar Rural Livelihoods Promotion Society  (BRLPS) has organised a ‘Young Professional’ programme for new recruits to make the rural livelihood programme more effective.

Those selected will be prepared for bigger assignments starting with managing 12 blocks and then shifted to district levels for larger roles under the Jeevika model.  The term of contract expires in three years.

In this regard, BRLPS invites applications from pass-outs of reputed organisations.

BRLPS has been alleviating poverty in the state through its very innovative schemes for which the young professionals will be given proper training.

The premiere poverty alleviation organisation is also organising women into self-help groups for managing their livelihoods better.  So far, it has touched the lives of 10 lakh rural poor households organising them into nearly 100000 women self-help groups and 5700 village level federations.

BRLPS has been managing its own finances having generating Rs 54 crore and also leveraging Rs 280 crore from banks.

The ambitious project will later on cover the whole of Bihar in a phased manner by organising and empowering 1.5 crore rural poor households through 10 lakh federations and SHGs.

Bihar Rural Livelihoods Promotion Society (BRLPS) is an independent society set up by the Government of Bihar and supported by the World Bank. The BRLPS is implementing JEEViKA - Bihar Rural Livelihoods Project with the objective of enhancing the social and economic empowerment of the rural poor in Bihar. (KNN)
