GST Bill will be passed during ongoing Monsoon Session: Kalraj Mishra

Union Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Minister Kalraj Mishra is optimistic that the Goods & Services Tax (GST) Bill will be passed during the ongoing Monsoon Session of the Parliament.

He said Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has met the chief ministers of the states and has got a good response from them.

Mishra also met V Narayansami, Chief Minister of Puducherry, and sought his assistance to establish tool room and technology development centre at the cost of Rs. 250 crore.

The tool room will have state-of-the-art infrastructure facilities and business processes including latest machinery and equipment to design and manufacture quality tools. Land is available and the estimated cost of the project is Rs.250 crore.

Both the Ministers also discussed about the fragrance and flavour development centres at Karaikal and Puducherry.

Mishra said that the ministry has planned for the Industrial cluster development and is trying to bring industries into the clusters and through clusters many things can be manufactured with Zero Defect and Zero Effect.

Lt. Governor of Puducherry Kiran Bedi also met Mishra and informed her that the Steering Committee of the Ministry had approved the Detailed Project Report of Rs 121.25 crore for a 'state of the art' tool room and technology development centre for Puducherry. (KNN/ AR)
