The World Bank takes into consideration the statistics coming in from Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), therefore the jump in India's ranking in World Bank's business report are quite reflective of the sector, Ramesh Abhishek, Secretary Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion - ‎Government of India informed.

Abhishek made the following comment responding to KNN during the press conference the Ministry called to disclose the World Bank’s doing business report of 2018.

Abhishek said that the World Bank in its case studies used for calculation of the country’s performance under various heads do take into account the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, therefore the positive jump from 130th 100th rank this year indicates a good signal for the sector.

Also Prime Minister Narendra Modi later in the evening expressed positive remarks over India performing well in the report.

PM Modi in an official statement said that the historic jump in ‘Ease of Doing Business’ rankings is the outcome of the all-round & multi-sectoral reform push of Team India.

“Easier business environment is leading to historic opportunities for our entrepreneurs, particularly the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises sector & bringing more prosperity” the Prime Minister added.

Following matrix shows the country’s performance under the various heads in comparison to previous year’s report.
