India MSME Expo & Summit to kick-start tomorrow; Railways and Defence are the focus sectors

MSME Development Forum in association with Ministry of MSME and Ministry of Commerce (DIPP) is organising the 3rd India MSME Expo & Summit 2016’ from August 11 to 13, 2016 at Pragati Maidan.

The main focus of the expo is to motivate Youth & Prospective Entrepreneurs on how to start their own enterprise and also educate them regarding main difference between Start-up and MSME.

Talking to KNN, Chairman of MSME Development Forum, Rajnish Goenka, said that 6000 MSMEs have been registered till date but looking at the footfall the number might go up to more than 15000.

He said as many as 200 stalls are placed in the expo.

Goenka said startups are also the focus sector in the expo and Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) has given their financial support for organizing the expo.

The chairman said that the focus sectors in the expo are defence and railways because they are the biggest buyers from the MSME suppliers.

Goenka, however seemed disappointed over less procurement from the MSME sector and said that public departments are bound to procure 20 per cent from the MSMEs but still the sector keeps pointing that the purchases are not being done as per the law.

“People from Railways and Defence would be present in the expo. Other focuses are engineering, electricals, pharma and IT,” he informed.

Major attraction of this Expo & Summit will be ‘Laghu Udyamis Workshop ’and ‘Loan Mela’ with its theme of ‘Transforming job seekers to job creators’. The Forum will be organizing Nine Summits chaired by various Ministers and their officials during the three day Exhibition & Summit to promote Government’s Programmes & Schemes like ‘Ease of doing Business’ via new Initiatives like ‘Make in India’, ‘Start-up India’, ‘Digital India’, ‘Stand-up India’, ‘100 Smart Cities’, ‘Clean India’ benefitting the MSME Sector.

For the First Time more than Fifteen Ministries and different States are coming together on one platform to support the MSME Expo. The expo is being supported by the Ministries of MSME, Textile, Civil Aviation, Tourism, Railways, Defence, Science & Technology, Communication & IT, Women & Child Development, Government of India and by few other Ministries/ Government Departments along with states of Punjab & Uttar Pradesh apart from support of  FICCI – CMSME /Trade Associations, Media and Trade Journals.

The Forum endeavors to help the Government by educating, promote, revive and accelerate the growth of MSMEs, Start-ups, Innovators, Women, ST/SC/OBC and Dalits etc to strengthen socio-economic structure and to generate new entrepreneurship and create new job opportunities for the 65% youth of India.

The MSME Sector provides employment to about 120 million people which is about 70% of manufacturing work force producing about 8000 different products, services and spread awareness about various government’s welfare, promotional initiatives and schemes to the Tiny, Micro and Small units, most of which are not registered and hence are unable to take the benefits of various government schemes.

The forum assists MSMEs in getting easy affordable and timely credit via various banking institutions which the government introduced for the survival and growth of MSME sector. It is believed that India can achieve next level of economic growth via MSMEs.

The forum also connects global MSME’s for mutual business promotion, identifies cross border partnership opportunities and creates a strong platform for key decision makers, business leaders to strengthen the MSME sector.
