In the last two years, there has been a subtle but significant administrative revolution happening in the country with the growing use of Digital technology, Amitabh Kant, CEO NITI Aayog said earlier today.

He said that the digital technology is helping the administration work more efficiently and this will give a fillip to the growth. The country is passing through the biggest technological revolution and leakages in government schemes and delivery have become a thing of the past.

Kant was speaking at the interactive meeting on ‘The Business of Government : Learning from Global Experiences, organized by FICCI, NITI Aayog, Bharti Institute of Public Policy of ISB and the IBM Center for The Business of Government in New Delhi.

Kant also spoke of the various initiatives of the government to enable progression from the  19th century mind-sets to modern 21st century ways through vast transformative decisions. He said that the government has shifted increased its focus from inputs to outcome targets of various ministries. There is a proper monitoring system of the outcomes for every ministry driven on IT technology and is monitored closely by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Emphasizing on the need to make the best use of technology, Kant said that there is PRAGATI system (Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation), an integrative and interactive platform for addressing the common man's grievances and monitoring important programmes and projects that links all States and the Centre. The system also connects all Chief Secretaries and Indian Diplomats overseas to monitor projects online once every fortnight.

Kant also mentioned about the elimination of various intermediaries between the government and the beneficiaries citing the example of Direct Benefit Transfer scheme of the government. (KNN/ DA)
