Innovation Voucher is a concept which the Ministry would like to adopt in a cluster approach in which GIZ, FISME and other stakeholders can discuss ways to take this forward, said SN Tripathi, Additional Secretary & DC-MSME, Ministry of MSME.

He was speaking at the workshop on ‘Innovation Voucher’, jointly organized by GIZ and Office of the DC-MSME.

Sharing his personal views on Brexit, he said globalization 2.0 version is giving confusing signals. Even the champions of free democracy and free trade are going for exits and making their countries Great again.

He was referring to Britain’s exit from the European Union earlier this year.

He said, “We (India) were great all the time, we have to make it more innovative now. We are no longer India of the East and we don’t have East India Company also, we are a fairly robust economy prepared to face the world in its entirety in all segments of the world.

He said here the role of MSME, who are not only the engines of growth but are also at the bottom of the pyramid who support the entire manufacturing and service sector of Indian GDP, is crucial.

If we make this system more innovative, where innovation is treated not as an investment but as an investment, perhaps we can achieve much more, Tripathi said.

He said large companies would continue to serve their customers of yesterday, only small and medium enterprises look for the customers of tomorrow who can be served with innovation products and services. (KNN Bureau) (Watch Full Video)
