Growing of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) digitally will widen the market access and reduce the cost for them, said Sudhanshu Pandey, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

He was speaking on the sidelines of FISME-Amazon Digital Utsav during which a MoU was signed between the Federation of Indian Micro and Small & Medium Enterprises (FISME) and Amazon India to empower MSMEs to reach out to new markets using digital platforms.

Pandey said the reforms are being taken by the government to help MSMEs digitally export their products and popularize Make in India.

Even on the patenting side, the IPR office in India has improved a lot, he said elaborating that the total number of people working at the IPR office has gone up, the response time has dramatically come down and now the standards are matching globally.

Commerce Ministry, MSME Ministry and various other Ministries have the facilitation cell to guide MSMEs.

Pandey said that MSMEs are the biggest innovators, because survival of the fittest is the mantra for them. Unless they innovate their survival will be difficult, he opined.
