India, UK to work on FTA after Brexit

New Delhi, July 9 (KNN) Commerce and Industry Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that post Brexit, Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with UK will be a fresh exercise and work on FTA with EU will continue with a re-calibrated approach
Sitharaman, held a bilateral meeting with Sajid Javid, Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills, UK, in New Delhi.
During the meeting, both the leaders discussed issues of mutual interest. Both sides expressed hope to take proactive steps to deepen their ties and engagement in near future. Several issues related to bilateral trade and investment were discussed, said an official release.
Minister said “We have invited Chief negotiator from UK's side to engage with our Chief negotiator to take forward the entire process.”
India's exports to the UK were $8.8 billion and imports were $5.1billion in 2015-16. (With PIB inputs)
