3rd Annual Meeting of Board of Governors of Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank to take place in Mumbai

New Delhi, Dec 13 (KNN) The 3rd Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) will take  place in Mumbai on 25th and 26th June 2018, a release from Ministry of Finance informed.

The theme of this year’s meeting would be “Mobilizing Finance for Infrastructure: Innovation and Collaboration”, the release informed.

The Annual Meeting is set to host over 80 delegates from all AIIB Member countries. Also business leaders, members of civil society organizations and media among others are to be a part of the delegation and the meeting.

On India getting the opportunity to host the meeting, Subhash Chandra Garg, Secretary, DEA said that with the event taking place in India, the country will get the chance to showcase the strengths of the Indian economy and introduce AIIB members to potential infrastructure investment opportunities in India and Asia.

“It is a significant development that India is to host the 3rd Annual Meeting of AIIB at Mumbai. India is not only one of the founding members of AIIB but is also the 2nd largest shareholder in AIIB”, Garg said

Annual Meeting related Seminars would also be organized in other Indian cities including Delhi, Kolkata, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore & Vishakhapatnam etc.  prior to the main Annual Meeting.

The 3rd Annual Meeting of the AIIB will be preceded by a meeting of the attendants on 23rd and 24th of June to undertake preparatory work and ancillary events  

AIIB is a multilateral development bank with a mission to improve social and economic outcomes in Asia and beyond. Headquartered in Beijing the bank started its operations in January 2016. (With PIB Inputs) (KNN/DA)
