India-Sweden hold talks on cooperation in MSME sector at JCEC

New Delhi, May 17 (KNN) The 18th Session of India-Sweden Joint Commission for Economic, Industrial and Scientific Cooperation (JCEC) took place recently in the national capital. The discussion focussed on various themes including the cooperation between the two countries in the MSME sector

Nirmala Sitharaman, Commerce and Industry Minister represented the Indian delegation at the JCEC and Ann Linde, Minister for Trade and EU Affairs and Foreign Affair Minister headed the Swedish delegation during the meet.

The Ministers acknowledged the role of JCEC in uplifting and maintaining the bilateral relations between the two nations. They also expressed optimism towards the commission saying it will continue to strengthen the relations in the future as well.

The two sides reviewed the ongoing projects between the countries in fields including trade and investment, sustainable urban development, environment, education, health, renewable energy and science and technology.  The delegation also discussed other potential areas such as telecom sector, urban transport and road safety, traditional medicine and food and science technology.

Also during the meet, MoUs were signed aiming at strengthening cooperation in the field of Intellectual property. Highlighting the importance of innovation, the delegation expressed interest in working towards promoting innovation through essential partnership.

Talks were also held on establishing mechanisms to facilitate investments and businesses in both the countries.

Both India and Sweden recognized the need of a proper monitoring system to ensure the implementation of the proposals, for which the countries agreed to have mid-term reviews on the progress of initiatives and projects. (KNN/ DA)
