New Delhi, Mar 19 (KNN) Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, during his address at the inauguration of the 105th Indian Science Congress in Manipur urged the scientific  and technological institutions to take up the task of assisting the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the country.

The Prime Minister hinted towards possible collaboration between the institutions and the MSME units to upscale products and manufacturing process.

Making an appeal, PM Modi in his speech said “Can our scientific and technological institutions take up the cause of the MSME sector and assist these units in improving processes and products”.

Acknowledging the potential of the sector, PM Modi further said that small and medium scale industry units have been the main-stay for employment generation.

With global competition, the MSMEs are facing increasing challenges, the Prime Minister added.

Also recently during another event, speaking along similar lines, PM modi said that the govt programs including Startup India, Standup India and Skill India are dedicated towards generation of self employment opportunities and are aimed towards Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).  (With PIB Inputs) (KNN/DA)
