Capacity utilization major concern for not only small units but also large enterprises: GCCI president

New Delhi, June 19 (KNN) Newly appointed president of Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Jaimin Vasa said small businesses are facing big challenges and resolving them will be one of the agendas of GCCI.

Jaimin Vasa has formally taken over as the President of GCCI for the year 2018-19.

Talking about his agenda for next one year, Vasa said that capacity utilization is a major concern for not only small businesses but also large enterprises.

"GCCI will make efforts for these units by enabling them to get access to markets within and outside country. Access to timely finance also continues to be a major bottleneck. We will interact with concerned authorities to iron out the problems," said Vasa.

During the year, Gujarat's apex body for trade and industry plans to work for small businesses, encouraging youth – particularly women towards entrepreneurship and promote innovation.

Further he said that the GCCI will paly active role in Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2019, wherein it plans to have an MSME Conclave for small businesses to interact with their prospective buyers from the country and abroad.

Since Indian economy is passing through major changes in last 2 years, it is becoming difficult for smaller units to sustain.

Therefore to make them sustain in the current and challenging environment, we are inviting FDI and when theses units will invest in India, where will be small players, who can act as vendors, he added.

He said it is necessary that small businesses also reap the benefits.

Besides, other major key areas to focus include encouraging innovation industries and academia.

The Vasa and his new team plans to have a strong coordination between Industries and academic institutions to create a skilled workforce that can cater to the requirements of the industries.

A 'Vision Document' with a roadmap will be prepared with the involvement of experts from different fields.
