Imperative to consider boosting MSMEs in the country: Rijiju

New Delhi, Aug 23 (KNN) Highlighting the significance of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the country, Minister of State (MoS) for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju said that the sector has the potential to lift up the economic growth in the country.

The Minister added that the small and medium scale industries play key role in forming the base of the economy of the country, therefore it is important for the various stakeholders to shift the focus to the sector.

Rijiju acknowledged the shortcomings in terms of the available support to the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) involved in different sectors including manufacturing. He assured that the State governments along with the Centre are working on policies that could help the sector.

The Minister further said that the manufacturing sector in country needs a variant of the industrial revolution in order to keep up with the global trends in the industry.

Rijiju was speaking during an event organized by ASSOCHAM titled Manufacturing Conference-cum-Awards: Transform and Perform in New Delhi.

States including Assam, Tripura, Himachal Pradesh and Karnataka were awarded for manufacturing excellence awards during the event. (KNN/ DA)
