AIOVA files petition against Flipkart for involvement in unfair and discriminatory trade practice
New Delhi, May 23 (KNN) The All India Online Vendor’s Association (AIOVA) which claims to represent 3,500 sellers has filed a petition with the Competition Commission of India against Flipkart for giving preferential treatment to few sellers to enable steep discounts on its platform.
According to media reports, the AIOVA has accused a Flipkart of “abuse of its dominance” by indulging in “unfair and discriminatory” practice.
The association claimed that it offers discounted price to some of its seller entities through its e-commerce wholesale arm due to which few seller entities like WS Retail are able to sell the goods at a high discounted price on Flipkart’s platform.
In this regard, the AIOVA has filed a petition with CCI on Monday, asking the commission to direct Flipkart against selling products at discounts on its platform and from giving preferential treatment to a few sellers.
The association in its petition said “We believe that Flipkart Pvt Ltd is the dominant player in the relevant market and abused its dominant position under Sec-4(a) i.e. imposing unfair or discriminatory condition in purchase or sale of goods”
