New Delhi, Apr 10 (KNN) Commerce Ministry has asked all Export Promotion Councils (EPCs) to adopt the online mechanism for issuance of Registration cum Membership Certificates (RCMCs) in order to be in sync with the current digital environment.

Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has clarified that for this, the EPCs need not seek any permission from DGFT.

The move comes after DGFT received request from Chemical and Allied Export Promotion Council of India (CAPEXIL) for permission to issue online RCMCs along with online format of RCMC.

In a letter to the EPCs and Federation of Indian Export Organizations (FIEO), DGFT has said, “The matter has been examined and it is observed that DGFT has not prescribed any specific mode i.e. manual or online, for issuance of RCMCs by the Export Promotion Councils (EPCs).”

It said accordingly, permission for issuance of online RCMCs does not arise.

“As a matter of keeping pace with the Government’s campaign for ‘Digital India’, DGFT urges all EPCs to adopt the online mechanism for issuance of Certificates …,” the letter added.

DGFT has asked EPCs to lay down a timeframe and a roadmap for changeover to online issuance of RCMC and share the same with the Directorate. (KNN Bureau)
