With GST refunds stuck, Tirupur exporters urge Govt to stop IT Dept from sending notices over advance taxes

New Delhi, Mar 28 (KNN) The Tirupur Exporters Association (TEA) has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to immediately direct the revenue department not to attach the bank accounts of exporters who fail to pay the advance tax.
In his letter to PM, TEA President, Raja M Shanmugham, said that such actions will affect the morale and spirit of business community.
He further mentioned that the I-T department has issued demand notice against exporters to pay the advance tax for this quarter.
Talking to KNN, in this regard, he said, Tirupur is going through a tough phase of financial crunch and in this scenario, they have to pay advance taxes.
He said, after GST rollout, huge amount of GST refunds to exporters are pending, RoSL (Remission of state levies) is also pending. All these delays resulted in heavy backlog especially for exporting units.
He further added that in-comparison to previous years, the Tirupur clusters’ turnover is not good and thus in order to protect these clusters from financial crisis we requested Finance Minister and Prime Minister to look into this matter. (KNN/YV)
