Dubai Ports-Jammu Kashmir govt signs MoU for establishing dry port, MSMEs welcome step

New Delhi, Feb 9 (KNN) With the Jammu and Kashmir government holding delegation level talks with the CEO Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem of the Dubai Ports for setting up of inland logistic hub in Jammu and Srinagar, the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) have welcomed the step.

MSME Body Bari Brahmana Industries Association (BBIA) said that the state’s first ever inland logistics hub is a landmark achievement of the Mehbooba Mufti government and is expected to encourage industrial investments in the state.

BBI further said that the Dry Port that is likely to get functional in the next 24 months, numbers of domestic as well as foreign investors may opt for the setting up of new export based Industry which will open the doors for the new direct and indirect employment avenues for the youths of the State.

To encourage the export for the Industrial Finished Products from the State, BBIA urged the government to consider setting up of dedicated Export Promotional Industrial Park near the dry port by the Jammu-Kashmir SIDCO to invite the new investment in the state which will also help in the establishment of micro and small scale unit as an ancillary units for the supply of their goods to the prospective buyers.
