Industry in Punjab demands reduction in fixed power charges

New Delhi, Nov 8 (KNN) The representatives of trade and industry has urged Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) to cut down the fixed charge component of the two-part tariff approved by Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission (PSERC) for bicycle and parts manufacturing units.
Chamber of Industrial and Commercial Undertakings (CICU), the United Cycle and Parts Manufacturers’ Association (UCPMA) and the Hosiery Trade Association held a meeting with PSPCL Chief Engineer, Central Zone Paramjit Singh to discuss the power issues the industry is facing.
The Chief Engineer said PSPCL had been making regular efforts to maintain 11 kV feeders to keep them fault-free. He added that that the industrial consumers fed at 11 kV voltage should ensure that their vacuum circuit breakers are kept well-maintained and periodically tested to prevent tripping in the main line.
He also said that internal power line faults should be reported to the field staff concerned immediately to prevent interruption in power supply.
The industrial leaders assured to properly maintain the GO switches and LT switches of private power transformers installed by consumers to avoid accidents and main line faults.
The meeting was attended by CICU president Avtar Singh, UCPMA president Inderjit Singh Navyug and Hosiery Trade Association functionaries Subhash Kumar and Kala Jain. (KNN/AG)
